Sakleshpur is located approximately 220 kilometers from Bangalore. The journey takes around 4 to 5 hours by car. The region is well connected by train, visitors can get down at the Sakleshpur railway station. 

Best Season and Time to Visit

The post monsoon months from October to March are the best to visit Sakleshpur. Summer months and monsoon months may be avoided as the weather might ruin plans.

  1. Manjarabad Fort:The fort at Manjarabad, constructed by Tipu Sultan in 1792, is a unique star-shaped structure located on top of a hill. It was built as a military base by Tipu Sultan during his reign and it was considered very strategic due to its location. The fort presents visitors with amazing views of the Western Ghats as well as other landscapes surrounding it. These include bastions, underground tunnels, and water storages that one can explore within the fort. 
  2. Bisle Viewpoint: Situated in Bisle Reserve Forest, Bisle Viewpoint offers one of the most beautiful panoramic vistas in Western Ghats. From here you can see  three mountain ranges:  Kumara Parvatha, Pushpagiri and Dodda Betta. Renowned for its marvellous sights of sunrise and sunset, it is an ideal place for photography. The thick forests around this place enhance this place with its vibrant flora and fauna. 
  3. Sakleshpur Railway Trek: The Sakleshpur Railway Trek takes you on a roller-coaster ride through the Western Ghats. This 56-kilometer-long path from Donigal to Yedakumeri is unique for its lush forests, deep valleys and many tunnels, creating an unforgettable experience. The trek also involves old bridges, suitable for beginners and advanced trekkers alike.
  4. Hemavathi River: The Hemavathi River that flows peacefully in Sakleshpur is a tributary of Kaveri. It provides serene spots for picnics and leisure activities. There are thick trees surrounding the river banks of this area, making this a scenic viewpoint. During the rainy season when water level rises, it enhances the beauty of the river bed and surrounding villages after the rain showers. 
  5. Agni Gudda Hill: Agni Gudda is a hill in Sakleshpur that is famous for its sharp nature and beautiful views. Adventurers like this mountain because of its challenging topography that has both rocks and plains covered with grass. Hikers get a fascinating opportunity to view the Western Ghats, coffee trees, and rice plantations when they get to the peak. Night treks are also famous in this area, allowing the visitors to rest under the canopy of stars. 
  6. Jenukal Gudda: Jenukal Gudda, the second highest peak in Karnataka, has the reputation as the mountaineer’s paradise. Also known as the Honey Stone Mountain, visitors go through dense forests, coffee plantations and misty trails. Standing at an elevation of around 4,400 feet, this experience is really rewarding. The path leading to Jenukal Gudda is moderately tough thus suitable for hikers who have some experience.
