The Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is a natural splendor, emerging as the perfect getaway from Bangalore for nature lovers.  It comprises various ecological zones, including dry deciduous and tropical rainforests. Situated in the Western Ghats region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. The sanctuary hosts an important population of animals, including Bengal tigers, leopards, and elephants alongside many birds. Historical Significance

The surrounding region of the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary was inhabited by the Soliga tribe and thus is rich in historical and cultural heritage. Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, this region was declared as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger in 1998.

Llocated on the banks of the Tunga River, the temple’s history and beauty are enhanced by its mythological artistic works.
  • Bhadra Dam: The Bhadra Dam is located on the banks of the Bhadra River and is a great local attraction near Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. The dam’s construction was completed in 1965, and since then, the lake behind the dam has served as a breeding ground for migratory birds. Nowadays, people visit the dam area not only to admire its facilities but also for recreational purposes such as fishing or boating.
