Historical Significance
Wayanad has a rich historical significance with numerous evidence of the stone ages of the Neolithic era. It has survived through many dynasties including those of Pazhassi Rajas of Kottayam royal dynasty and Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore. Rajas is applauded to this day for his struggle against the British even after he was banished to the forest.
